Ignite our Site was an ambitious crowd fundraising campaign run through Boosted in November 2020 that aimed to raise NZD$10,000 towards the development of a new website for Contemporary HUM, a platform discussing international projects from Aotearoa New Zealand visual artists. Recognising the limitations of their existing platform after four years of significant growth, the campaign sought community support to enhance accessibility, navigation and functionality for their readers and contributors.
My contributions
- Coordinated all fundraising activities.
- Scouted and liaised with the Wellington-based illustrator, Amy van Luijk, to develop the campaign’s visual identity.
- Developed additional communications material, including press releases and copy for social media posts.
- Solicited written testimonials from artists and key figures within the arts community.
- Designed and distributed press releases to relevant media outlets to generate campaign awareness.
- Managed donor relations and ensured effective communication with supporters throughout the fundraising period.
- Monitored the campaign’s performance across various platforms and tracked public reaction to optimise engagement.
Project impact
In only four weeks, the Ignite our Site campaign raised a total of NZD$10,150, providing crucial funds for the design and development of Contemporary HUM’s new website. This achievement ensured the platform could continue and expand its mission of showcasing Aotearoa New Zealand’s visual arts globally with improved accessibility and functionality for its growing audience.
